Rejuvenated – The 10th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of KDU
The Installation Ceremony of President Rtr. Ashen Hewavithana & his Board of officials of the Rotaract Club of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University for the RI year 2022-23 was held on the 28th of October, from 6.00 pm onwards at the Main Auditorium, Faculty of Graduate studies.
The club was initiated in 2013 and charted on the 16th of September 2013 and has been conducting several projects and introducing many initiatives focusing on developing the professionalism of it members and serving the community ever since. The Rotaract Club of KDU is considered one of the most prestigious clubs of the university and has strived for success for the past 10 years under the guidance of The Vice-chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Maj. General MP Pieris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil (Ind)
The event was an unequaled success with the presence of the Chief Guest, Maj. General LCR Jayasuriya RSP ndc psc – Rector General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Southern Campus, Brigadier W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Defence and Administration) of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, the Guest of Honor President from the Rotary Club of Colombo, Faculty Deans, Squadron Commanders, the District Rotaract Chair, the District Rotaract Representative, members of the District Steering Committee of Rotaract District 3220, members from other Rotaract Clubs, parents, general members and well-wishers.
This ceremony represented the official takeover of the club for the RI year 2022-23 by President Rtr. Ashen Hewavithana and his Board of officials who were elected on July 2022. The event comprised a lineup of speeches by several officials and Rotaractors present and an awe-inspiring, sensational musical performance by our very own KDU Rotaractors. Further certificates of recognition were presented to the outgoing board and a badging ceremony for the incoming board. The event came to a delightful ending with dinner being served at the main cafeteria premises. All in all, the 10th installation ceremony was indeed a great representation of the past decade of excellence and the many more years to come.
