Farewell to the Former Chancellor and Welcome to the New Chancellor

KDU organized a ceremonial function on 26^th January 2023, where the Vice Chancellor and staff of KDU bade farewell to the outgoing Chancellor, General Gerard Hector de Silva (Retired) RWP VSV USP ndc and warmly welcomed the incoming Chancellor, General Shantha Kottegoda (Retired) WWV, RWP, RSP, VSV, USP appointed by His Excellency the President with effect from 23^rd December 2022.

In his address, the Vice Chancellor, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, appreciated the great service rendered by the former Chancellor General Gerard Hector de Silva not only to KDU but also to the nation as a whole through his long military as well as diplomatic career. Further, Vice Chancellor recollected how the outgoing Chancellor graced ceremonial occasions such as convocations and the significance of his convocation orations in which he educated new graduates on their responsibilities.

Welcoming the new Chancellor, General Shantha Kottegoda, the Vice Chancellor elaborated on his distinguished military and diplomatic career and the service that he has rendered to the nation. He promised that the new Chancellor would be given the highest cooperation required to carry out the duties of the high office of the Chancellor of KDU.

General Shantha Kottegoda handed over the Book: “The Conflict That Eluded Peace” authored by him to KDU Library on this occasion.

Rector Metropolitan Campus, Rector Southern Campus, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration), Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Deans of Faculties, Centre Directors, Senior Academics, Senior Officers and Administrative Staff participated in this occasion. Later, the new Chancellor General Shantha Kottegoda visited several faculties and important places at KDU
