KDU Felicitates Officer Cadets for Achievements at the 4th CISM Military World Cadet Games
General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) proudly hosted a felicitation ceremony on August 27, 2024, at the Faculty of Graduate Studies Auditorium to honor nine KDU Officer Cadets who represented Sri Lanka at the 4th CISM Military World Cadet Games held in Caracas, Venezuela. The Officer Cadets departed for the games on August 16 and returned to Sri Lanka on August 27, having delivered outstanding performances that brought honor to their institutions and the nation.
Among the honorees, Cadet Corporal TKAGW Chathurangi from KDU Intake 37 received special recognition for winning a gold medal in the high jump event, marking a significant achievement for KDU and Sri Lanka’s armed forces. In addition, Lady Officer Cadet (LOC) JMS Savindi from the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy was honored for securing a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle swimming event. This recognition brought the total number of felicitated cadets to ten, highlighting the diverse talents and dedication of Sri Lanka’s military academies, and the encouragement KDU brings to uplift military sports.
The felicitation ceremony was presided over by Rear Admiral HGU Dhammika Kumara RSP USP psc, Vice Chancellor of KDU, who presented valuable cheques to each of the cadets as tokens of appreciation for their hard work and dedication. Rear Admiral Dhammika Kumara commended the cadets for their outstanding achievements, emphasizing the importance of such accomplishments in bringing pride to the nation and serving as a source of inspiration for their peers.
