10th General Deshamannya Denis Perera Memorial Oration: “Role of Air Forces for Collective Security in an Ocean of Geopolitical Uncertainty”
The Association of Retired Flag Rank Officers (ARFRO) organized the 10th General Deshamannya Denis Perera Memorial Oration at 0600 pm on the 01st of September at the Auditorium of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), Ratmalana.
The Oration titled “Role of Air Forces for Collective Security in an Ocean of Geopolitical uncertainty” was delivered by Air Marshal RAUP Rajapaksa RSP & two Bars, VSV, USP MSc(MOA)USA, MSc(Def stu)in Mgt, Main is&S (UK), BSc(DefStu), MIM(SL),AMIE(SL),rcds, psc the commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force. The Associations of Retried Flag Rank Officers is on organization founded by the late General Deshamannya Denis Perera, to harness the energies expertise and experience of retired Senior Officers of the Armed Services for utilization in enterprises such as nation building.
The Late General Deshamanya Joseph Everard Denis Prera VSV, D Litt (Honoris Causa). FCMI (UK) F/Mgt (SL) ndc psc served as the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army from 1977 to 1981. On his retirement from Service, he was appointed as the Sri Lanka High Commissioner to Australia and was later the Chairman of the Securities & Exchange Commission, and Chancellor of the KDU.
The event was attended by the late General’s wife Ranjini Perera, Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Chancellor of the KDU, former commanders of the three services, past President of ARFRO, family and friends, members of ARFRO, serving officers and members of the diplomatic corps.
