KDU Shuttlers Emerge Runners-Up at the SAB Strikers Badminton Tournament

The SAB Strikers’ Badminton tournament organized by the SAB Campus was held at the Mercantile Badminton Association courts Colombo on 27 April 2025. Twelve teams competed, vying for honours. The tournament was held as a team event with a game consisting with men’s singles, women’s singles and a mixed double. During the preliminary round, the KDU team became the second in their group winning four out of their five matches, and went down fighting to the shuttlers from the University of Moratuwa (1-2).
During the semifinal, the KDU team demonstrated their remarkable skill by outclassing the players from APIIT in a highly competitive game, winning 2-1. This win opened the doors for an enthralling final between the top two teams in the tournament, where KDU locked horns once again with the University of Moratuwa shuttlers. The game was nothing short of exciting volleys and smashing plays where KDU players showcased their exceptional talent and resilience. However, after a tough fight in the finals, the KDU players emerged runners-up (1-2) of the tournament. These outstanding performances highlight the commitment and talent of KDU’s badminton players, who continue to uphold their university’s reputation in the sports arena.
