Drama Workshop for Inter-Faculty Drama Competition Organized by Centre for Gender Equity and Equality and Dept. of Languages (FMSH) along with the KDU English Literary club.
The Center for Gender Equity and Equality (CGEE) and the Department of Languages (DOL), FMSH along with the English Literary club recently organized a drama workshop in preparation for the upcoming Inter-Faculty Drama Competition at KDU. This annual competition, which provides a platform for students to showcase their artistic talents, was a resounding success last year. It not only highlighted the creative skills of KDU students but also served as an important initiative to raise awareness about gender equity and equality among the KDU community.
With the primary objective of promoting these values, this year’s event began with two preparatory sessions of drama workshops to ensure that participants are well-equipped for the competition. The workshop was held on the 4th of September 2024 at the Faculty of Defense and Strategic Studies (FDSS) Auditorium and it was conducted by featured two distinguished figures from the Sri Lankan film industry—renowned actress Ms. Damayanthi Fonseka and celebrated actor Mr. Prasannajith Abeysundara.
The workshop was a great success, with participants actively engaging in the sessions, learning key acting techniques, and preparing for their performances. The energy and enthusiasm in the room were palpable, as students prepared for the first round of the competition, ready to give their best on stage.
The inter-faculty drama competition continues to be an important event, fostering not just artistic talent but also raising critical awareness about gender-related issues in an engaging and creative way.
