First Round of Inter-Faculty Drama Competition Showcases Talent and Awareness. (Under Gender Equality in Action theme)
The first round of the Inter-Faculty Drama Competition for 2024 was successfully held on the 11th and 12th of September at the FDSS Auditorium. Organized by the Center for Gender Equity and Equality (CGEE) and the Department of Languages from the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences, and Humanities (FMSH), the competition featured two distinct themes: “Gender Equality in Action,” presented by CGEE, and “Fantasy and Reality,” presented by the Department of Languages.
A large number of creative and thought-provoking scripts were submitted, and after a rigorous evaluation by a panel of judges, the best 10 scripts were selected—5 under each theme. These chosen scripts were then brought to life on stage in a series of captivating performances that made up the first round of the competition.
The performances not only highlighted the immense talent within KDU but also delivered powerful messages about the importance of gender equality and the interplay between fantasy and reality in our lives. Under the theme of “Gender Equality in Action,” two standout performances, “Kadapatha” by the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS) and “Api Illanne Echcharai” by the Faculty of Law (FOL), were selected to advance to the final round.
The event demonstrated the growing creative potential within the university and served as a platform for students to express their views on critical social issues through the medium of drama. The final round promises to be even more exciting as these talented students prepare to showcase their skills once again.
