The Hall of Fame of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University is established to provide a lasting and visible means of recognizing KDU Alumni who have made lasting and significant contributions to military and public civilian service. Through the achievements of inductees who have served during periods of conflict and peace, the hall of fame serves to motivate the current and future generations of KDU and thereby inspiring them to build upon the time honoured-achievements of these distinguished personalities.
3rd Prime Minister of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) who donated his entire property to establish a defence academy to train Tri Service Officers
08th Commander of the Sri Lanka Army who pioneered in obtaining the property and land to establish KDU and considered as the Founder of KDU
The 18th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy and the Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who is the first recipient of PhD from the KDU
KDU alumina (Intake 2) who functioned as the Vice Chancellor, University of Moratuwa and held the appointment of Secretary, Ministry of Education
The 25th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy and the first KDU graduate (Intake 5) to rise to the office of the Commander of an Armed Force in Sri Lanka
The 14th Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force and the Chief of Defence Staff who is from the first batch which was conferred with MSc (Def Stud) Degree in Management from KDU
The 18th Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force and a member of the second batch of MSc (Def Stud) Degree in Management from KDU
The 13th Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force and a recipient of MSc (Def Stud) Degree in Management from KDU
The 15th Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force and a recipient of MSc (Def Stud) Degree in Management from KDU
The 35th Inspector General of Police of Sri Lanka and a recipient of MSc (Def Stud) Degree in Management from KDU
