National Digital Repository Center on Defence Studies (NDRCDS) implemented to collect, organize, archive and preserve all types of information sources on Defence, Security and related studies, through a digital library platform. Sri Lanka, a country, having a long history of war experience in different historical stages, carries an importance in the region in its geographical location. With this scenario, building up and preserving national memory of Defence and Security related knowledge is crucial, through a centralized information system. As one of the timely and nationally important concepts of the Maj. General Milinda Peiris, RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil (Ind) Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University with the financial patronage from Professor Emerita Kusuma Cooray, Consul emeritus of Hawaii Consular Corps, National Digital Repository Center on Defence Studies (NDRCDS)has been implemented by the Faculty of Defence & Strategic Studies and the Library of KDU as a collaborative project.
Kusuma Cooray is professor emerita at the Culinary Institute of the Pacific, University of Hawai‘i. She has won several awards; these include the Burton Trophy for the Outstanding Student –National Bakery School, London, and Nino J. Martin’s “Invitational Best of the East-West Chefs” award; the Chaine des Rotisseurs Brillat Savarin Medal of Honor and most recently the Gold Star of Excellence in recognition of the contributions made towards the education of young chefs in the State of Hawaii. She was the initiator and project coordinator for “Island State; Island Nation” 1998-2000- Partnerships in Tourism Workforce Development in Sri Lanka a USAID funded project.
She is the author of “Burst of flavor” highlighting spices and harmonizing East- West flavors, a 275-page book published by the University of Hawaii Press. “Burst of Flavor” won the Publishers award in 2002.
