Blood Donation Campaign
In collaboration with the High Commission of Bangladesh, a blood donation campaign was organized on 22nd February 2021 at the UHKDU by the Sri Lankan Scout Association under the guidance of Major General MP Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil (Ind) PGDM, the Vice Chancellor of KDU and Chief Commissioner of Scout Association. His Excellency AMB Tareq M Rafiqul Islam, the High Commissioner for Bangladesh in Sri Lanka graced the occasion as the Chief guest, and other distinguished invitees including the Vice Chancellor and the Staff of KDU participated in the event. The Honourable Chief Guest also joined the campaign by donating blood. The personnel from the Sri Lanka Army, the Sri Lanka Navy and the Sri Lanka Air Force, rover scout cadets and other officer cadets at KDU and non-academic civil staff also donated blood in this campaign. The entire blood donation campaign was held according to the rules, regulations and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health. After the event, Major General MP Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil (Ind) PGDM, the Vice Chancellor of KDU and Chief Commissioner of Scout Association planted a tree in the Osu Uyana at the UHKDU to mark this event.
Tree Planting Programme of KDU Rover Scouts

With the direction of Major General MP Pieris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil (Ind) PGDM, the Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University and the Chief Commissioner of Sri Lanka Scout Association, the Rover Scouts of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University conducted a tree planting campaign on the university premises on 22 February 2021 under the guidance of Commodore JU Gunaseela, a president scout and the Dean of Faculty of Computing, and Captain VD Saluwadana, the Officer in Charge of KDU Rover Scouts in commemoration of the International Mother Language Day and Scout Founder's Day.
This programme was affiliated with a nationwide programme of tree planting, and as the initial step, 100 plants were planted by 100 Rover Scouts of KDU. The event was successfully promoted by the mobile application, 'THURU'. The young rover scouts showed their enthusiasm in protecting the nature by actively taking part in this campaign.
KDU Rover Scout – Blood Donation
National Rover Scouts of KDU organized their first official event for the calendar year under the guidance of the Vice Chancellor of KDU and The Chief Commissioner of Scout Association of Sri Lanka, Major General MP Peiris to aid the National Blood Bank during this time of need due to the depletion of blood bags, with the current COVID -19 pandemic situation.
The blood donation campaign was held successfully from 0900 hrs onwards at the UHKDU premises with the participation of the Cadets, dayscholars and blood donors from around the vicinity.
The entire blood donation campaign was held according to the rules and regulations and guide lines issued by the relevant medical authorities due to the prevailing COVID -19 pandemic and the support given by the UHKDU staff to uphold the standards of the blood donation campaign is highly appreciated. The KDU Rovers express their gratitude towards the participants for their support during this time of need.
As the first National Rover Scout Crew of Sri Lanka, the KDU rovers took the first step in a long journey of conducting more social activities for the betterment of the country.
