In an effort to promote a society that is more egalitarian and inclusive, the Centre for Gender and Equity and Equality of the General Sir john Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) has organized a series of informative speeches and workshops aimed at educating the larger community about the paramount importance of gender equity and equality in all facets of life.

The events, which took place over the course of the year 2022, brought together experts, activists, and community leaders to share insights, experiences, and strategies to promote a more balanced and fair society.

Diverse Perspectives, Inclusive Solutions:

One of the highlights of the initiative was the diverse range of speakers who graced the stage. Experts from various fields, including academia, advocacy, and industry, shared their perspectives on how gender equity and equality contribute not only to social justice but also to overall community well-being and progress.

These workshops which were once exclusive to the KDU community, later opened to the border community as well due to their increasing popularity. One of the main reasons for its growing popularity was these workshops delved into some interesting key topics such as breaking gender stereotypes, promoting workplace equality, and understanding women?s role in technology and technology facilitated sexual violence that are germane to current context. Participants were encouraged to engage in open discussions and interactive activities to deepen their understanding and actively contribute to the discourse.
