An awareness session was conducted on the support schemes available for women at the university. The aim was to address the need to empower women, foster their academic and career progress, and create an environment of equality. Various access schemes were discussed, such as scholarships, financial aid, counselling services, career guidance, and daycare facilities. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) exhibited a deep commitment to ensuring success and inclusivity. Academics and supporting staff members were present for the meeting held in Ratmalana. Addressing the meeting, the DVC (Academic) said that men and women should have equal opportunities, as it fosters a healthy, diverse, and creative environment. He stressed devising strategies that encourage women to improve access to career guidance services. With these affirmative steps, we intend to close the gender gap in academia and continue the tradition of innovation.
