Certificate awarding ceremony of the Weekend Language Courses – 2022 and the inauguration ceremony of the Weekend Language Courses – 2023 were held on 11th March 2023. The Weekend Language Courses are offered by the Department of Languages (DoL), Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities of General Sir John Kotelawela Defence University (KDU). These courses comprise of five courses namely; Certificate, Advanced Certificate and Diploma in English Language and Certificate Course in Chinese and Tamil languages, and they provide a comprehensive package for the students to improve their core skills of language learning. The students who have successfully completed the Weekend Language Courses – 2022 were awarded with certificates.
Brigadier DCA Wickramasinghe USP USACGSC, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence & Administration) of KDU, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Further, Major Wimansha Abeyawickrama the Head, Department of Languages and Ms. Nalinika Rajapakse, the course coordinator were among the distinguished guests.
