The Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities (FMSH) together with the Career Guidance Unit of KDU, successfully conducted its Career Fair on 18th May 2023 at the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS). The Career Fair was conducted with the motive of assisting students in finding the ideal and best-suited internship placements in reputed organizations in Sri Lanka. The career fair provided ample opportunities for the Day scholars of intake 38 Logistics Management, Management & Technical Sciences, Social Sciences, and the Applied Data Sciences and Communication of the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities.
The representatives from leading local and international organizations attended the career fair; some of them are MAS Intimates, MAS Bodyline, MAS Kreeda, MAS Linea Aqua and MAS Active, Unilever Sri Lanka, Nestle Lanka PLC, Pership, VallibelONE, KPMG, Verité Research, Ft Express, Dialog Axiata, Hemas Consumer Brands, ASL Logistics, DFCC Bank and Headmasters Pvt Ltd. The high turnout of industry representatives has proved the outstanding quality of undergraduates produced by the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences, and Humanities of KDU and their recognition within the industry.
The inaugural session took place at 0830 hours followed by face-to-face interviews where students were given the opportunity to meet the representatives of these companies. The industry representatives gave excellent comments about students, and they agreed to offer job opportunities, while some of them were contacted for follow-up interviews at their individual company branches.
Under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty, Mr. Kithsiri Amaratunga, the event was organized by Dr Namali Sirisoma (Director Career Guidance Unit), Dr. Kalpana Ambepitiya (Career Guidance Advisor of FMSH), and Mrs. Kumuduni Weerasinghe (Internship Coordinator – Department of Social Sciences). The event has opened many avenues for students as well as the KDU at a large scale.
