The E Rickshaw which was innovated by the Department of Marine Engineering under the guidance of Head of the Department, Cmde (E) MCP Dissanayake, USP, psc had a great chance to participate for the MuCycle parade which was organized by the Ladies College, Colombo 07 on 26th August 2023.

Dr. Anuji Gamage – Senior Lecturer in Community Medicine to the Faculty of Medicine – KDU was the bridge to connect both KDU and Ladies College. The Vice Chancellor of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, recognizing the significance of this opportunity, graciously approved the participation of the E Rickshaw in the parade. With unwavering support from the university, the stage was set for the innovative vehicle to shine.

As the E Rickshaw glided along the parade route, it drew the attention and admiration of not just the onlookers, but also the esteemed alumni, current students, dedicated teaching staff, and proud parents of Ladies College. Its unique design and eco-conscious features resonated with the audience, sparking discussions about sustainable transportation options and environmental responsibility.

Beyond its presence in the parade, the E Rickshaw also played a central role in the event’s fundraising activities. It actively participated in the gaming session held on the grounds, becoming one of the most talked-about attractions of the day.
