GENESIZ 2023: Unleashing Innovation at KDU's Premier Idea Pitch Competition

GENESIZ 2023 is an exhilarating inter-university idea pitch competition organized by the Electronic, Robotics, and Innovation Club (ERIC) of KDU. On the 7th of October 2023, the KDU premises buzzed with excitement as eight outstanding teams, shortlisted from a pool of registrants, gathered for a day of intense competition and innovation.

This event was a collaborative effort, with five other prominent clubs joining hands with ERIC to make GENESiZ 2023 an unforgettable experience. IEEE ComSoc, IEEE PES, and IEEE EMBS orchestrated BrainForge—a thrilling quiz game testing engineering insights. The BCS Student Chapter of KDU presented Gencode, an evaluation of programming prowess. Solstice, a team play organized by the Rotaract Club of KDU, challenged participants in problem-solving and cohesive teamwork.

One of the highlights was Duino Bot, a game organized by ERIC KDU. Teams engaged in developing code to power a robot that was designed to accomplish ultimate tasks.

The heart of GENESIZ 2023 was the Idea Pitch Challenge, where participants presented engineering solutions. The esteemed judge panel comprised Mr. Pasindu Udugahapattuwa, Assistant Lecturer at the University of Sri Jayawardanepura; Mr. Chandula Padmasiri, Technology Entrepreneur, and Electronics Engineer at Twinery Innovation by MAS; and Mr. Gimhan Dayarathne, Engineer at Vega Innovations.

The awarding ceremony was graced by the Vice-Chancellor of KDU and other distinguished academic guests. Prof. CAN Fernando, Senior Lecturer, and Nanotechnology Scientist of the University of Wayamba, delivered an inspiring keynote speech, adding intellectual depth to the event.

In a fierce competition, Team Boatbotix from the University of Moratuwa emerged as the Best Responsive Team. Tryforce, also from the University of Moratuwa, secured the Runners-up position. However, the coveted title of Overall Champions went to Team Decentra V from University of Moratuwa, showcasing their exceptional talent and innovative prowess.

GENESIZ 2023 was a celebration of innovation, collaboration, and engineering excellence, leaving an indelible mark on the participants and setting the stage for future breakthroughs in the world of technology.
