The sixth lecture of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” for the academic year 2023/24 was presented by Dr. Sanath De Silva. His lecture, titled “Bridging Sri Lanka’s History with Her Future: A Cosmopolitan Approach” took place on October 30th, 2023, from 1500 to 1640 via Zoom.
Dr. Sanath De Silva is the Head of the Department of Strategic Studies at the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studie at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.
He holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Colombo, a MA in International Relations from the University of Colombo, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka. In addition to his role as an academic at KDU, Dr. Silva also serves as a visiting lecturer at the Staff College Sapugaskanda, the Sri Lanka Military Academy in Diyathalawa, the Sri Lanka Airforce Academy in Chana-Bay and the Officer Career Development Center in Buttala.
The course is organized for the fourth consecutive year by the Department of Social Sciences, FMSH under a generous research grant awarded by the Eurasia Foundation (from Asia) in Japan. This course is scheduled to run from October 2023 to March 2024, catering to a select group of undergraduate students in intake 40, representing diverse faculties within KDU.
