KDU and Republic of Rwanda signs an MOU to admit qualified Rwandan students to KDU degree programmes.

General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) and Republic of Rwanda renewed the MoU initially signed in 2015 to admit suitably qualified Rwandan students into its degree programmes.

The MOU was signed by Vice Chancellor of KDU Major General Milinda Peris and representing the Government of Republic of Rwanda, by the High Commissioner of Republic of Rwanda accredited to Sri Lanka Her Excellency, Ms. Jacqueline Mukangira on 23rd December 2021 in a formal ceremony at KDU.

The Vice Chancellor of KDU addressed the gathering by recalling his memories in his first tenure at KDU. He mentioned that the cordial relationship between KDU and Republic of Rwanda began when he met the former High Commissioner Mr. Earnest Rwancyo. He continued by thanking the Rwandan authorities for sending Rwanda students to KDU degree programmes on a continuous basis since 2015.

The High Commissioner of Republic of Rwanda accredited to Sri Lanka Her Excellency, Ms. Jacqueline Mukangira expressed her gratitude to Vice Chancellor of KDU for the friendship that KDU offering to her country. Also she expressed gratitude to KDU to developing professionals in the fields of aeronautical engineering and aircraft maintenance engineering, who are now serving in the Rwandan air force and civil aviation. She also emphasized the importance of closer and more friendly cooperation between two countries for mutual benefit.

Honorary Consul of Republic of Rwanda in Sri Lanka His Excellency Mr. J.C.E Alles, Honorary Second Counsellor of Republic of Rwanda in Sri Lanka His Excellency Mr. Irakoze Prosper represented government of Rwanda and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration), Dean of the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies, Acting Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Adjutant, Director International Relations and Deputy Registrar represented KDU.
