High Commissioner of New Zealand Mr Michael Appleton Visits KDU

New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Mr Michael Appleton made a courtesy call on Major General Milinda Peiris, the Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) On January 21, 2022. Mr Appleton is a career diplomat since 2005, and is New Zealand’s first resident High Commissioner to Sri Lanka. He has visited KDU on a previous occasion in December 2021, to take part in the MOU signing ceremony between KDU and the Massey University, New Zealand.  

During the discussion, the Vice Chancellor and the High Commissioner discussed continuing MOUs between KDU and New Zealand universities. They also talked about ways to improve academic collaborations between institutions in both countries.

Following his meeting with the VC, the High Commissioner visited ‘walawwa,’ the late General Sir John Kotelawala’s mansion. He was briefed on its history and significance to the university. Dr Prasanna Premadasa, Director of International Relations, was present for the discussion with the Vice Chancellor.
