Freshers? Exhibition organized by the undergraduates of the Faculty of Technology was held on 30th June 2022 at the Faculty of Graduate Studies, KDU. This exhibition was held to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents. The chief guest was Major General MP Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, the Vice Chancellor of KDU. In his speech, the Vice Chancellor praised both students and faculty staff for their dedication to supporting students by organizing events of this nature during a difficult time. Brig W Chandrasiri, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence & Administration), Prof. KAS Dhammika, and Deans of the other faculties were also present at the event.
Further, the Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of being practical and finding novel ways to adapt to new situations in his speech. He went on to say that in the current economic climate, everyone must find ways to reduce their reliance on imports. All guests and invited participants were allowed to visit each exhibit, and students from the Faculty of Technology provided explanations.
Eleven exhibit items with greater industry relevance were on display. An Advanced Oscilloscope, an Arduino-based ECG Trainer kit, a Voice Controlled Wheelchair, a Medical Robot, a New Concrete Brick made from waste materials, a proposed model to reduce traffic congestion on the Borupana road, a Floating Solar Power Panel solution to zero the electricity cost of the KDU club house, a Sensor-Based Gas Leakage Detector System, a Neutral Temperature AC system, a Loop Heat Pipe Solar Hot Water Heater and a line following robot were on display. Students, academics, industry, schoolchildren and teachers, and parents were all welcome at the exhibition.
