Three Final year Undergraduates from BSc in Applied Data Science Communication Degree of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Mishka Marzook, Maneesha Malki and Thamal Chanakya presented a paper on “AI powered mobile app to forecast bed requirements in Sri Lankan Intensive Care Facilities” at the 6th Global Public Health Conference (GLOBEHEAL 2023) held on the 23rd-24th February 2023 at Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo and won the award for the Best Presentation. The three undergraduates were appreciated by physicians both local and foreign for their novel concept of the AI powered mobile app. They were also asked to develop the idea in Sri Lanka and was suggested that with complex AI modifications, the app could be sold all over the world. Many foreign physicians showed a keen interest on their idea.

120+ participants from 30+ different countries around the world attended and presented at the conference out of which only few were undergraduates. Hence, the positive feedback from the audience and the recognition gained is a great achievement and a motivation for the three undergraduates as well as for all others who are looking forward to engage in research work.
