The Centre for Strategic Assessment (CSA) of FDSS conducted a capacity building workshop on 11th and 12th July 2023 in association with the Institute for Security Governance (ISG) of the USA at the Boardroom of FDSS. Brigadier Chinthaka Wickramasinghe USP USACGSC, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Defence & Administration) of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University made the opening remarks at the workshop.
The main objective of the workshop was to enhance the capacity of CSA, which was established on the 6th June 2023. The workshop will assist the CSA to constructively contribute to the strategic development and policy making of Sri Lanka. Further, the workshop extended the relationship of CSA and KDU within the dimension of internal and external security of Sri Lanka. In addition, it enabled to boost the bond between KDU and national security institutions and other stakeholders such as energy, immigration, MOD, disaster management, environmental institutions and academia.
The Vice Chancellor of KDU, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil adorned the workshop on 12th July 2023. The Vice Chancellor extended his appreciation to the contribution made by ISG to enhancing the capacity of CSA and KDU to uplift the prospectus of Strategic Studies and International Relations.
The representatives of ISG, Dr. Oscar De Soto, Dr. Barak Salmoni, Mr. Max Kelly, Mr. Matt Ashley, the Director of CSA Dr. Harindra Vidanage, Dean of FDSS, Colonel Pradeep Rathnayake RSP USP psc, the programme manager CSA and the Head of the Department Dr. Sanath De Silva, the Research Coordinator of DSS, the academic staff of the DSS and CSA representative from MOD participated in the workshop.
