The inauguration ceremony of the Short Course on “Cultural Linkages towards an Asian Ideology” for the academic year 2023/2024 was held on September 26, 2023, from 1430 to 1530 hours at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.

The ceremony marked the formal commencement of the course and was attended by a gathering of over 150 participants. The event was honoured by the presence of Deputy Vice Chancellor – Defence and Administration, Brigadier DCA Wickramasinghe USP USACGSC, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, along with Mr. Tetsuya Yamada, Chief Representative JICA Sri Lanka Office, who attended as the Guest of Honour.

The course is conducted by the Department of Social Sciences, FMSH for the fourth consecutive year, supported by a generous grant obtained from the Eurasia Foundation in Japan. Over 130 undergraduates, representing all faculties of KDU have enrolled in this course, and will have the privilege of being instructed by a distinguished panel of local and international scholars. The curriculum encompasses a wide range of topics, including language, politics, economics, law, and gender studies, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of Asia and its rich culture.
