General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University witnessed the crowning moment of achievement of its students of Intakes 34, 35, 36, and 37 at KDU General Convocation 2023 held on 03rd and 04th October 2023 at the BMICH.
General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University currently has 6255 in-house undergraduates, both cadets and day-scholars. At this year’s convocation, 1769 graduands from all faculties and affiliated military institutions were conferred with degrees by General SHS Kottegoda (Retd) WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc, the Chancellor of the University. Among this year’s degree holders, there were 02 who received the Doctor of Philosophy degree. One received a Master of Philosophy degree, 103 received Master’s degrees and 1490 received their Bachelor’s degrees. In addition, 09 received Postgraduate Diplomas.
2/Lt RTLA De Silva, A/SLt SH Madanayaka, and Plt Off WARD Jayathilake from the Army, Navy and Air Force received best Cadet Officer awards for their respective services. The sword of Honour for the Best All-Round Performance of Intake 36 was awarded to A/SLt SH Madanayaka. Honourable Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, graced the final session of the convocation as the Chief Guest. The Chief of Staff to the President & National Security Advisor, State Minister of Defence, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Tri Forces Commanders, distinguished invitees and the family members of the graduates were among the invitees at the convocation.
