KDU and the Asian Institute of Technology establish formal collaboration

General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) and Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in 2015 to strengthen their partnership.

On August 29, 2022, Vice Chancellor of KDU Major General Milinda Peris RWP RSP VSV USP and President of the Asian Institute of Technology Dr Eden Woon signed the MOU in a hybrid ceremony at KDU.

In his remarks, the vice chancellor of KDU reminded of his 2015 visit to AIT, which ultimately resulted in the establishment of official collaboration between institutions. He continued by thanking the AIT for sponsoring students from the KDU to undergo short-term training in Thailand.

The President of AIT also addressed the gathering, thanking the Vice Chancellor of KDU for the friendship that KDU has extended to AIT. He also emphasized the importance of two universities working together more closely and amicably for mutual benefit. And expressed his desire to visit KDU in the near future.

Along with the President of AIT, the Dean School of Engineering & Technology Prof. Dieter Trau, Director Office of Advancement & Alumni Affairs Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Director Office of International Affairs Mr. Shawn Kelly, Senior Program Officer Ms. I.D Indra Kumari, and Advancement Officer Ms. Sirikate Owasit joined the ceremony from AIT.

While the Vice Chancellor of KDU was joined by the Rector Metropolitan Campus of KDU Maj. Gen Lal Gunasekara RSP USP psc, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Dean Faculty of Built Environment and Spatial Sciences, Director International Relations and Registrar.
