The Quality Assurance Cell of the Library (IQAC), General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) was established in April, 2022 in accordance with the guidelines given by the Center for Quality Assurance (CQA) of KDU. IQAC has a broad mandate of coordinating all the activities related to quality assurance within the Main Library and the Branch libraries in liaison with the Center for Quality Assurance (CQA) of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.
The main objective of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at the KDU Library is to guarantee the quality of library activities. This is achieved by overseeing the library's adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations related to the use of services, resources, and facilities. The aim is to enhance best practices in teaching, learning, and research within the university. These best practices have been identified by the Quality Assurance Council (QAC) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka, which have established national accreditation standards for university libraries. These standards have been developed by experts in quality, primarily from academic and industrial backgrounds, and they serve as a basis for constructing quality systems and implementing quality initiatives that are visible to customers.
The Library IQAC, in collaboration with faculty-level subcommittees, will ensure that the criteria outlined for the external review process of university libraries are maintained and promoted.
Overall, the Library IQAC will work towards ensuring best practices for quality assurance by providing services, resources and facilities for teaching, learning and research.
