I have completed my Bachelor of Bio-systems Technology Honor’s in Agriculture degree from the Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Technology, University of Colombo, where my undergraduate research focused on collaborative projects with the Industrial Technology Institute, Sri Lanka, in the field of Agriculture.

I am honored to be a Graduate Research Assistant within the highly esteemed microbial biotechnology research group led by Dr. Himali S. Jayasinghearachchi at KDU-CARE. Currently, I am fortunate to be engaged in an industry-collaborated project centered on the development of bio fertilizer. My academic journey and research experiences have allowed me to nurture a profound passion for microbiology, crop protection, plant pathology, agronomy, and molecular biology. This unwavering enthusiasm drives me to contribute meaningfully and play an active role in the continuous progress and development of these dynamic fields.

Outside of my professional pursuits, I enjoy playing volleyball and indulging in creative hobbies such as 3D arts and programming.

Ms. Ambalikka Kulakalaharan
BSc (Hons) in Agriculture Resource Management and Technology

I earned a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Resource Management and Technology from the Department of Agricultural Biology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna. My undergraduate research focused on the impact of two Trichoderma bio-inoculants on rice plant growth. and disease resistance against Rhizoctonia solani-caused sheath blight in Rice under both greenhouse and laboratory conditions under the guidance of Dr. Himali S Jayasinghearachchi. I am currently a Graduate Research Assistant at the microbial biotechnology research group led by Dr. Himali S Jayasinghearachchi, where I am working on an industry-collaborated microbial biotechnology project exploring oil-eating microbial consortia. I have developed a strong passion for microbiology, crop protection, plant pathology, agronomy, and molecular biology as a result of my academic and research experiences. These disciplines of research continue to captivate my attention, and I aspire to contribute to further advancements in these fields.

Ms. Waruni Jayathunga
BSc (Hons) Agricultural Resource Management and Technology
University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka 

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in agricultural resource management and technology from the department of biology, faculty of agriculture, University of Ruhuna. My undergraduate research focused on the evaluation of Trichoderma-enriched vermicompost as a potential solution for managing tomato damping-off caused by Rhizoctonia solani. Currently, I am privileged to work as a graduate research assistant as a part of the microbial biotechnology research group led by Dr. Himali S. Jayasinghearachchi at KDU-CARE, where we are engaged in an industry-collaborated project centered around the development of ectomycorrhizal and endomycorrhizal formulations. By exploring this project, we strive to contribute to the development of innovative solutions to agricultural challenges. My research interests span across various domains, including plant pathology, tissue culture, microbiology, as well as agribusiness. Beyond my academic pursuits, I find relief in listening to classical music, reading books that broaden my knowledge, and enjoying movies during my leisure time. I am passionate about making meaningful contributions to the field of agriculture through scientific research, and I look forward to further opportunities to expand my knowledge and expertise in the future.

Ms. AG Nadeesha Nirmali
BSc. (Hons) in Biomedical Science

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science (1st class) from the Kaatsu International University, Sri Lanka. Currently, I am privileged to work as a Graduate Research Assistant as a part of a project focused on determining the anti-cancer effects of herbal formulae, under the supervision of Dr. A.I. Kuruppu. My research interests are primarily centered around Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology and Nanotechnology. These interests have been shaped by my academic journey and hands-on research, and I am enthusiastic about contributing to advancement in these areas.

Ms. Dinesha Malki Silva
BSc. (Hons) in Biomedical Science

As a First-Class graduate in Biomedical Sciences from Kaatsu International University, Sri Lanka, I have the opportunity to work as a research assistant at KDU CARE, under the supervision of Dr. A I Kuruppu. My research focuses on the development of nutraceuticals through traditional medicine for both local and export markets, with a specific focus on hyperlipidaemic conditions. My academic and professional experience has fostered my interest in cell biology, molecular biology, and pharmacogenomics. I am committed to applying my skills and experiences to make a meaningful contribution to research initiatives aimed at developing these areas.

Ms. LHH Erangika
BSc. (Hons) in Applied Sciences (Polymer Science)
University of Sri Jayewardenepura
Sri Lanka.

I am a BSc Hons Graduate in Applied Science with a specialization in Polymer Science from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. With a strong foundation in Polymer Science as a major, and Chemistry and Physics as minor subjects. I have amassed two years of valuable experience at the Rubber Research Institute, where I honed my skills and deepened my knowledge in the field. Additionally, I have volunteered in various research projects at MAS, further showcasing my commitment and passion for research. I am currently working as a Graduate Research Assistant in Dr. A.I. Kuruppu’s research group at KDU-CARE. Currently, I am working on an innovative project to design cotton gel socks for amputees in Sri Lanka. My research experience and passion for material innovation drive me to develop practical solutions that improve lives and contribute to the research community at KDU as I continue to push the boundaries of knowledge in my chosen field.
