General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University established the Institute for Combinatorial Advanced Research & Education (KDU-CARE) in 2013, with the aim to provide a central, fully-fledged research facilities, for all its academia catering the needs of all the faculties, thereby to promote research and innovation, and research commercialization, at KDU. It intends to discover, implement and operate state-of-the-art scientific technologies that would enhance the university education and research capabilities.
The main goal to be achieved by KDU-CARE is to upgrade research to contribute to the enhancement of national development through improving quality of life of people and socio economics of the country. This could be realized through promoting high quality research aiming inventions. Making full-use of discoveries, in-turn leads towards the national economic growth. Being competitive in the open and knowledge economy can achieve the sustainability. KDU-CARE, therefore, is undertaking multidisciplinary scientific research in collaboration with both public and private sector organizations; to build research capabilities, to enhance innovation, and thereby to contribute to the national socio economic growth.
KDU-CARE harbours research professors, research scientists and research assistants to engage in research, spanning a range of disciplines, from Biomedicine, Allied Health Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture, Molecular Biology, Computer Science to Engineering. Therefore, the researchers of KDU-CARE focus on research and innovations that will result in solving national problems, international publications/ patents, and product developments or improvements.
