Basic and Applied Sciences Session at the 17th International Research Conference (IRC) of KDU
The Institute for Combinatorial Advanced Research & Education (KDU-CARE) together with the Department of Basic Sciences of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences organized the Basic and Applied Sciences (BAS) Session of the 17th IRC. The session was organized and coordinated by Dr. Nadeesha Rathuwadu, and Ms. Ridhmi Maddumage.
On the 26th of September, a panel of resource persons was invited for the plenary session. The BAS plenary session was chaired by Senior Prof. Nalin de Silva, Chair and Senior Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Colombo. The panel of speakers included:
Senior Professor Asoka S. Karunanda – Senior Professor at the Department of Computational Mathematics, Faculty of Technology, University of Moratuwa
Dr. Lal Ekanayake – Director General, Institute of Sports Medicine
Prof. Gaurav Ahuja- Associate Professor at the Department of Computational Biology, Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi, India
Prof. Kar Tong Tan- Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, National University of Singapore, Singapore
The second day (27th September) of the BAS session comprised four technical sessions, during which around 50 papers were presented as oral and poster presentations. Winners for both oral and poster presentations were chosen at the end of the technical sessions. The session was a great success.
