KDU hosts a delegation from the National Defence University of Malaysia
KDU welcomed the Assistant Vice Chancellor – Services, Industry Relations & Corporate Affairs, Dato’ Dr Junaidah Binti Kamarruddin and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Prof Dr Azizi Miskon of the National Defence University of Malaysia (NDUM) on 22nd October 2022.
The official visit was aimed at exploring the potential collaborations focusing on student and staff mobility, faculty partnership and research. During the visit, the MOU signed by the Vice Chancellor of NDU Malaysia was officially handed over to the Vice Chancellor of KDU by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Azizi Miskon of NDUM.
The Assistance VC of NDUM, while officially inviting the VC again to visit Malaysia, stated that a group of students is desirous of visiting KDU in 2023 to engage in CSR activities together with KDU students. Prof Azizi in his remarks indicated his desire for collaborative research related to Biomedical Engineering.
Parties discussed the preparations for the ARF HDUCIM meeting to be held in Kuala Lumpur in May 2023. Other potential collaborative activities to be conducted under the signed MOU have also been discussed. In his speech, the Vice Chancellor of KDU reiterated that as the co-host KDU will provide the fullest support to NDUM to organize the event. He went on to state that the idea to allow civilian students to study alongside Cadets was inculcated in him when he visited NDUM in 2010.
Following the meeting, visitors were hosted for a lunch by the vice Chancellor of KDU at ‘Walawwa’.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor of KDU, Brig Wipula Chandrasiri, the Dean of the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies Col Pradeep Ratnayake, the director of International Dr KMGP Premadasa and the Registrar, Mr VD Kithsiri joined the Vice Chancellor for the discussion and the lunch.
