Inauguration Ceremony of the Leo Club of KDU for the Year 2022-2023
The Inauguration ceremony of the Leo club of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, was successfully held on the 30th of November, from 1600 hours onwards at the Auditorium of Faculty of Defence & Strategic Studies.
The KDU Leo club has a variety of awards that honor Leos and clubs for their outstanding service and leadership. It is one of the mutually beneficial relationships that Lions can benefit from Leos’ creative thoughts and Leos can use Lions’ access to the tried-and-true methods of people who have effectively served the world for decades. It would consolidate Leo district and club operations and offer a structure for administration. The club was initiated in 2020 with the guidance of Leo Rahal Vidanapathirana. He focused on developing the professionalism of its members and serving the community ever since.
The event was unequaled success with the presence of the Chief Guest, Brigadier W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Defence and Administration) of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, The District Governor of Lion Sri Lanka, Lion Shyana Jayalath, The Dean, Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies, Colonel Pradeep Ratnayake, Lion Chandani Vithana, President of the Lions club of Aluthgama Bentota, members of the Leo club and well-wishers.
This ceremony represented the official takeover of the club for the year 2022-23 by President Leo Sanji Poobalakumar and his Board of officials. The immense support of our Officer In- Charge, Lt NJLS Lanka was the backbone of this successful event. Further, a badging ceremony was presented for the incoming board. The event came to a delightful ending. All in all, the inauguration ceremony was indeed a great representation for the Leos where they started a significant chapter today and the many more years to come.
