General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Iftar 2023 was held on 28th March 2023 at KDU Cafeteria for the first time. This gathering was a hallmark event that was attended by a large, united community in KDU in recent time. Iftar is a Muslim tradition that emphasises fasting and giving something to others while reciprocating on such good deeds and actions among the members of the humanity. Thus, Iftar is of a spiritual significance.
Vice Chancellor, Major General MP Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, witnessed the event as the Chief Guest. Alhaj M Fazil Farook addressed the gathering about the importance of Fasting as the guest of honour for the event. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence & Admin), Brigadier DCA Wickramasinghe USP USACGSC, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. KAS Dhammika, Deans and Directors, and students were also attended the Iftar event.
