General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University signs MOU with Astron Limited for Bioequivalence Project on Metformin SR 500 mg (Astron Limited)
The CARE Technology Lanka (Pvt) Ltd of The Institute for Combinatorial Advanced Research and Education of KDU (KDU-CARE) entered into a research service agreement with Astron Limited on the 16th May 2023, to conduct the Bioequivalence (BE) study of Metformin SR 500 mg manufactured by the Astron Limited. Major General Milinda Peiris, Vice Chancellor of KDU, Prof. Thushara Weerawardane, Dean, Faculty of Engineering / Managing Director CTL / Director, Institute of Combinatorial Advanced Research and Education (KDU-CARE), signed the agreement on behalf of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. Ms. Marise Deckker, Managing Director, and Mr. Sirimal Fernando, Director / Chief Executive Office – Astron Limited., signed the agreement on behalf of Astron Limited. Mr. Johann de Zilwa – Director/ Chief Marketing Officer, Dr. Malindra Badathuruge, General Manager Quality Operations, Mrs. Kumarini Samarasekara, HOD/Assistant General Manager HR & Legal Division, Mrs. Shanika Fernando, HOD/Assistant General Manager Research & Development, Mrs. Nilushi Raththagala, Assistant Manager Regulatory Affairs represented Astron Limited. Snr. Prof Rohini Fernandopulle – WHO National Consultant on Regulatory Functions to N MRA, Prof. Charitha Gunasekara – Dean, Research and Development, Dr. Himali Jayasinghearachchi, Principal Investigator – Analytical, and Dr. Pandula Athauda-arachchi, Principal Investigator (Clinical)/Consultant Interventional Cardiologist (UK & SL Board Certified) also participated in this occasion.
