‘Le Vivante’ Workshop on Search for Life in the Universe – Organized by SEDS- KDU

The Students for Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) – KDU, under the supervision of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering (FoE) organized a Guest Lecture and Workshop with the theme “Le Vivante”. The renowned Astronomer Dr. Henry Throop (Program Officer, Planetary Science Division, NASA HQ) was invited as the resource person and the workshop was held on 27^th of June 2023 at the Faculty of Graduate Studies auditorium. The main focus of the lecture was to discuss how Biomedical and Earth Sciences correlate with space exploration. The students were highly benefitted to have a timely discussion with Dr. Henry Throop and they were able to sharpen their knowledge on Astrobiology. The event was also open to the academia, undergraduates of KDU and other Universities which amounted to over 200 participants. Further, Dr. Henry Throop also met the Major General Milinda Peiris, Vice Chancellor of KDU and had a fruitful discussion about promising opportunities in the field of Astrobiology for graduates of KDU.
