Squadron Commander’s Mess Night Intake 39

The First Mess Night of Intake 39 of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University was held at the Officer Cadet’s Mess on 21st July 2023. The Squadron Commander of Intake 39, Lieutenant Commander SGM Madhuwantha graced the glorified occasion as the Chief Guest. In addition, Secretory of the Cadets’ Mess Major BGSP Samarasinghe lsc, all Troop Commanders and University Under Officer along with senior Officer cadets of Intake 37,38 and 220 Officer Cadets from Intake 39 also participated in the memorable event.

The Mess Night of Intake 39 was replete with Military decorum and six-course menu that was served reflecting the adherence to long-preserved customs and traditions in the military. The musical accompaniment in attendance followed with the loyal toast. A total of three customarily toast was offered, including a toast to the HE, the President. This marked a remarkable opportunity for the Officer Cadets of Intake 39 to learn about traditional military customs and values related to Mess nights.

The Mess Night was organized under the guidance and supervision of the Dean of the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies, the Squadron Commander of Intake 39 and Troop Commanders.
