Opening of New Accommodation Buildings at Southern Campus of KDU
Three new accommodation buildings were ceremonially declared opened at the Southern Campus of KDU on 28th July 2023. This includes a Cadet Mess, Male and Female accommodation buildings. The cadet mess building consists of 24 rooms, and is equipped with a dormitory, visitor’s room, mess, bar and other amenities. This would correspond to the 40 officer cadets and another phase of the building is yet to be completed.
The Male and Female accommodation buildings consist of 26 rooms on twin sharing basis and each building could accommodate 52 students. These hostel buildings are equipped with attached bathrooms, TV room, warden room, and study areas.
The construction of the cadet mess was carried out by Sri Lanka Navy upon the consultancy of Arch International (Pvt) Ltd. The constructions of the Male and Female accommodation buildings were carried out as a design and built project by the Central Engineering Sri Lanka (CESL).
The opening of these newly constructed hostel building was graced by the Secretary of Defense, Vice Chancellor, Chief of Staff, Commanders of the Tri-forces, Director Construction of Sri Lanka Navy and other visiting delegates. In addition, the Chairman of the Arch International (Pvt) Ltd, Mr. Sunil Ariyarathna, residential Engineer of CESL; Eng. Bhakthi Akmeemana, CEO-Eng.L.W.J.N. De Alwis, COE(South)-Eng.J.D.Sunil, Eng. Janaka – Chief Engineer were present at this esteemed occasion.
