Certificate Awarding Ceremony to Appreciate the Commitment of the Staff of UHKDU in Celebrating the Achievement of “Australian Council of Healthcare Standards International” (ACHSI) Certificate
University Hospital of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (UHKDU) is – “Sri Lanka’s first state hospital to be recognized by the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards International” (ACHSI) and most prominently the “Only Sri Lankan Hospital” to be accredited under the latest edition of the ACHSI Evaluation and Quality and Improvement Programme (EQuIP7).
University Hospital, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (UHKDU) is a purposely built Teaching Hospital, combined to the Medical Faculty at Kotelawala Defence University. UHKDU successfully faced the Organization Wide Assessment (OWA) for the accreditation by Australian Council of Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI) during 27th March 2023 to 30th March 2023. Affirming its commitment to uphold healthcare standards and patient safety, UHKDU successfully completed the recognition level accreditation by the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI) marking a remarkable milestone in the state health sector.
The achievement of gaining an accreditation during a national crisis reaffirms the commitment of UHKDU in upholding high standards in patient care, safety and risk management. To appreciate the commitment of the staff of UHKDU an award ceremony was organized to celebrate the achievement with the blessings of the Vice Chancellor of KDU, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil as the Chief Guest on 21st August 2023 at University hospital – Main Auditorium. Further, Executive Director Dr. B Jayan Mendis, Director Medical Service, Brigadier (Dr) PS Thilakaratne, Director Administration, Brigadier LWSR Wettasinghe, all the Consultants, Doctors and the Staff of UHKDU also participated in the event.
