The Vice Chancellor ceremonially unveils the Name Board of the Faculty of Technology to its newly acquired space
On the 24th of August 2023, the Faculty of Technology (FOT) of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) ceremonially opened its newly acquired premises previously used as the headquarters building of KDU. Majority of the spaces available in the building, has been given to the FOT, including Dean’s office, administrative space, lecture rooms and some laboratories.
FOT was inaugurated as the 10th Faculty of KDU on the 11th of January 2022 under the guidance of the current Vice Chancellor to produce professional Technologists with practical skills. On the invitation of the Dean Faculty of Technology Prof KMGP Premadasa, Vice Chancellor Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhill (Ind) and RAdm HGUD Kumara VSV USP psc, the Vice Chancellor- Designate graced the occasion to unveil the name board.
In his welcome speech, Professor KMGP Premadasa, thanked the Vice Chancellor for his support and guidance to establish the faculty. He emphasized the need for the new faculty building in order to enroll the fullest number of students and to provide better learning environment for existing students.
Following the welcome speech, the vice-chancellor launched the new faculty of technology website, which is designed to provide essential and relevant information to prospective students, industries and visitors.
The Vice Chancellor, in his speech congratulated the faculty for its significant achievements within a short period of time and mentioned that everyone should uplift the faculty to the best and leading Technology faculty in the country that produces multidisciplinary talents with extensive practical experience.
The Deputy vice-chancellor (Def and Admin) Brig DCA Wickramasinghe USP USACGSC, Deputy vice-chancellor (Academic) Prof KAS Dhammika, Dean Faculty of Engineering and the Commanding Officer (Admin), all academic and Administrative staff of the FOT and the undergraduates of the faculty took part in the event.
