INTAKE 34 MBBS VC’S DINNER NIGHT
The night of September 18, 2023, marked a significant event in the Kotelawala Defence University (KDU). The Cadet’s Mess was abuzz with excitement as 87 participants, including 47 Officer Cadets, gathered to celebrate the successful completion of three months of Advanced Military Training. The occasion was none other than the “Intake 34 MBBS VC’s Dinner Night. The Vice Chancellor of KDU Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara VSV, USP, psc, MMaritimePol, BSc (DS) graced the glorified occasion as the Chief Guest. In addition to Vice Chancellor Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara, the event was graced by other distinguished invitees, including the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence & Administration), the Registrar, the Deans of the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies (FDSS) and the Faculty of Medicine (FOM), and the Adjutant, Squadron Commanders and Troop Commanders.
The Dinner Night of Intake 34 was replete with Military decorum and five-course menu that was served reflecting the adherence to long-preserved customs and traditions in the military. The musical accompaniment in attendance followed with the Loyal Toast. A total of three customarily toast was offered, including a toast to the HE, the President. This marked a remarkable opportunity for the Officer Cadets of Intake 34 to learn about traditional military customs and values related to Mess nights. The Dinner Night was organized under the guidance and supervision of the Dean of the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies, the Squadron Commander of Intake 34 and Troop Commanders.
As these Officer Cadets continue their journey at KDU, they carry with them the invaluable lessons and experiences gained during their Advanced Military Training. The “Intake 34 MBBS VC’s Dinner Night” was not just a celebration; it was a reminder of the bright future that awaits these young leaders in the military and healthcare fields.
