The 4th Student Symposium of Faculty of Computing
The 4th Student Symposium of the Faculty of Computing at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University unfolded successfully on January 17, 2024. Held at the Faculty of Graduate Studies Auditorium in KDU, the symposium centered around the theme of “The Future of Emerging Technologies in Computing for Multidisciplinary Research.”
The event was honored by the presence of Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara VSV, USP, psc, the Vice Chancellor of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The keynote speech was delivered by Prof. K.S. Lasith Gunawardena, Head of the Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
Among the distinguished attendees were the Rector of Metropolitan Campus, Air Commodore Rajinth Jayawardena, the Rector of Kurunegala Campus Commodore Ruwan Rupasena, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence & Administration), Brigadier Chinthaka Wicramasinghe, and the Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Dr. Asela Gunasekara, Additionally, Deans from other faculties, Directors, representatives from the IT industry, academic staff members, and students of the Faculty of Computing graced the occasion.
A rigorous double-blind review process led to the selection of 53 abstracts, which were presented during the symposium. The event comprised of 10 sessions covering five main tracks in Computing: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, and Information Systems. It was Chaired by Ms. WMKS Ilmini while Ms. RGUI Meththananda acted as the Co-Chair of the conference.
