St. Nicholas’ International College Students Embark on Educational Journey to General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University
In a quest for knowledge and exposure to diverse academic disciplines, 40 enthusiastic students from St. Nicholas’ International College embarked on a captivating study tour to the esteemed Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) on 24 January 2024.
The day commenced with an engaging presentation and documentary on KDU, providing the students with a comprehensive overview of the university’s rich history, academic offerings and its commitment to excellence in education. The participants were eager to delve into the heart of KDU and explore the various faculties that contribute to the institution’s reputation for academic prowess.
The first stop on their educational journey was the Faculty of Medicine, where students had the unique opportunity to witness cutting-edge advancements in the medical field. The visit included interactive sessions at the clinical lab and anatomy lab, allowing the students to gain firsthand experience and insight into the practical aspects of medical education.
The tour continued with a visit to the Faculty of Engineering, where students witnessed the impressive facilities and learned about the diverse engineering disciplines offered at KDU. From Marine Engineering, Automobile Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering laboratories to interactive discussions with faculty, the participants gained valuable insights into the multifaceted world of engineering.
The educational odyssey concluded with a visit to KandawalaWalauwa, providing students with a glimpse into the historical and cultural aspects of KDU. This added a unique dimension to their learning experience, connecting the academic journey with the rich heritage of the institution.
As the students returned to College, they carried with them a wealth of knowledge and a newfound appreciation for the academic excellence embodied by KDU. The study tour served as a catalyst for inspiration, encouraging the students to pursue their academic aspirations with passion and a broader perspective on the numerous possibilities within the domain of higher education.
