The Visit of the State Minister of Defence to KDU
Honourable Premitha Bandara Tennakoon (LLB (Hons) UK LLM Australia) the State Minister of Defence made an official visit to General Sir John Kotelawala Defence university on 08th February 2024. At the onset of his visit to KDU, the Honourable State Minister of Defence paid his homage to the KDU War Heroes’ Monument by offering flowers.
The Honourable State Minister met the Vice Chancellor of KDU, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara VSV USP Psc MMaritime Pol Bsc (DS) at the Vice Chancellor’s office and subsequently participated in a briefing on the present status of KDU, presented by Brigadier Chinthaka Wickramasinghe USP USACGSC, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration).
During the Honourable State Minister’s visit, he inspected the progress of the KDU Auditorium’s Construction in the University Premises. In addition, the Honourable State Minister visited the Faculties of Engineering, Computing, Medicine, Law, Faculty of Management, Social Science and Humanities, Faculty of Graduate Studies, KDU Care Lab and KDU Museum, which is the residence of the Late Prime Minister General Sir John Kotelawala. He also had interaction with academic staff, Officer Cadets and Day-Scholars at the Officer Cadets’ Mess.
