Workshop on Interview Skills for Logistics Management & Management & Techical Sciences Undergraduates of Intake 39
A workshop on “Effective Communication in Internship Interviews” for the Logistics Management & Management & Techical Sciences undergraduates of Intake 39 was conducted by Ms. Chamila Kothalawala, Ms. Thamara Kothalawala and Ms. Dhinesha Perera, Senior Lecturers of the Department of Languages and the Department of Management and Finance on 08th February 2024 at the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities. It was intended to enhance the undergraduates’ awareness of effective communication at their internship interviews. Ms. Chamila Kothalawala guided the undergraduates to conduct role plays in order to practice the main components of a focused self-introduction at internship interviews. Also, Ms. Thamara Kothalawala guided the undergraduates on the use of STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Results) method of answering behavioral interview questions. Ms. Dhinesha Perera explained to the undergraduates on verbal and non-verbal cues useful for success in internship interviews. This included posture, personality and confidence building techniques. For the undergraduates, the workshop served as a valuable learning experience, allowing them to practice communication skills in role-plays and activities and gain insights into facing internship interviews.
