Undergraduates from General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Organize Mobile Bakthi Geetha Project on Vesak Poya
Intake 41 undergraduates from the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) embarked on a mobile Bakthi Geetha project called “Vesak Bathi Gee Sarani” to celebrate Vesak 2024.
The project initiated at the university entrance with an opening ceremony graced by the presence of Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara, VSV, USP, psc, MMaritimePol, BSc (DS), the Vice-Chancellor, and Colonel USB Rathnayake RWP RSP psc, Dean of the Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies, along with other senior officers.
The undergraduates commenced and continued the project on the following locations on the 23rd and 24th of May 2024.
1. Maliban Junction
2. Rathmalana Junction
3. Near Keells Supermarket, Maliban Junction
4. Near Cargills Foodcity, Moratuwa
The mobile Bakthi Geetha project attracted large crowds who gathered to appreciate the traditional music.
The project was coordinated by Maj WMWGNC Wickramasinghe psc (Intake 40 SQN COMD) and Sqn Ldr DCL Attale, with Lt UWATA Wijethunga providing support.
This initiative by the KDU undergraduates not only served to promote Bakthi Geetha but also fostered a sense of cultural and religious spirit and harmony during Vesak Poya Day celebration.
