Field Visit to the nEUROcare Project at KDU
The nEUROcare Project had a successful field visit, monitored by Mr. Eugenio Dolfino, Project Advisor for Sri Lanka Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) and Coordinator for the European Union. Ms. Seuwandi Yapa, Manager for the European Union Delegation for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, also attended with Mr. Dolfino. This visit was held on July 4th, 2024, at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU).
The event was chaired by Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara VSV, USP, psc, MMaritimePol, BSc (DS), the Vice-Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, alongside Major-General Chinthaka Wickramasinghe Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Defence and Administration), and Surgeon Captain Dr. Ranga Perera, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS).
Surgeon Captain Dr. Ranga Perera provided an introduction about KDU and the FAHS. Dr. Prasanna Herath, Manager of the nEUROcare Project at KDU, presented the project’s progress, while Professor Sudath Warnakulasuriya discussed the challenges encountered during implementation.
All nEUROcare team members attended the event, including Dr. Kalpani Abhayasinhga, Dr. Dinithi Vidanage, Dr. Maliga Wijesiri, and Mr. Chandima Kumara Walpita Gamage. Mr. Dolfino and Ms. Yapa visited several key facilities, including the Museum ofKDU , the Faculty of Graduate Studies, the FAHS , the newly established Erasmus coordinator office at KDU, and the University Hospital of KDU. The meeting and site visits marked another milestone for the nEUROcare Project.
This field visit not only highlighted the collaborative efforts and commitment of all stakeholders involved but also reinforced the project’s objectives of enhancing capacity building in higher education through strategic partnerships and innovative initiatives.
