All night Pirith Chanting Ceremony for Commemoration of 44th Death Anniversary of Late General Sir John Kotelawala
In honour of the 44th death anniversary of General Sir John Kotelawala and to celebrate the 44th anniversary of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, an engaging all-night Pirith Chanting Ceremony took place within the serene grounds of the University on the evening of 24th October 2024. This significant event aimed to foster a spirit of reflection and reverence.
Subsequently, on 25th October 2024, an alms-giving ceremony was organized for the Maha Sangha, with the objective of invoking blessings for all individuals associated with the University. This included members of the Tri Forces, academic staff, officer cadets, day scholars, non-academic staff, and civil personnel.
The event was graced by the presence of distinguished individuals, including Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara VSV, USP, psc, MMaritimePol, BSc (DS), Vice Chancellor of the University, and Major General CA Wickramasinghe USP USACGSC, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Defence and Administration. Participation was also observed from various members of the academic and administrative staff, as well as from Officer Cadets and Day Scholars. This collective gathering served to fortify the sense of community and shared commitment within the institution.
