CHAMPIONS OF NSBM T20 CRICKET LEAGUE- 2024

In a thrilling finale marked by fierce competition and extraordinary talent, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University emerged victorious in the NSBM T20 Cricket Tournament, taking home the championship trophy. The tournament, held at the NSBM Green University Grounds, witnessed intense matches and top-tier cricket skills displayed by teams from various universities. Ultimately, KDU proved unbeatable, showcasing determination, strategy, and sportsmanship, leading them to the championship title.

The Road to Victory

matches series of challenging matches marked KDU’s journey through the tournament, each victory strengthening their resolve.In the semifinals, they faced the highly competitive team from NSBM, securing a hard-fought win that showcased their resilience under pressure.

In the final, KDU secured a crushing victory over the Institute of Information Technology (IIT), chasing down a target of 44 runs without losing a single wicket. KDU finished with a score of 50/0, winning the match by an impressive 10 wickets and further demonstrating their formidable form in this year’s tournament.

The match saw IIT struggle against KDU’s disciplined and aggressive bowling attack, as they were bowled out for a mere 44 runs. KDU’s bowlers dominated from the start, maintaining relentless pressure and ensuring that IIT’s batsmen never had the chance to settle at the crease. IIT’s final score of 44/10 underscored KDU’s effective strategy and execution.

In response, KDU’s opening batsmen made quick work of the target, reaching 50 runs without losing a wicket in a decisive performance that lasted just a few overs. The ease with which they chased down the target highlighted the strength and confidence of KDU’s batting lineup.

Key Performers

The tournament featured several standout players from KDU, including PKRJ Jayasinghe, who was awarded Player of the Tournament for his outstanding all-round performance. AKDRD Perera also played a crucial role, with an impressive bowling spell in the final match that dismantled the opposing team’s batting lineup. He was named Man of the Final, while KDU Cricket team captain HWD Mendis became the Best Fielder of the Tournament.
