The 5th Student Symposium of the Faculty of Computing (SSFOC) at KDU concluded successfully under the inspiring theme, “Empowering Digital Society with Computational Intelligence Towards Sustainability.” This prestigious event served as an open forum, bringing together students, researchers, and computing enthusiasts to learn, share, and engage in thought-provoking discussions across various disciplines within the field of computing.
The symposium attracted an impressive 185 research paper submissions from students representing diverse areas of computing. Following a double-blind peer review process, 54 papers were selected for presentation, which took place across 10 parallel technical sessions.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara, Vice Chancellor of KDU, who attended as the Chief Guest. The keynote address was delivered by the distinguished Dr. Upendra Pieris, CEO of Orel IT, whose insightful speech set the tone for the symposium, focusing on the transformative role of computational intelligence in building a sustainable digital society.
The success of SSFOC 2025 was the result of the collective efforts led by the Conference Chair, Ms. Uma Meththananda, and Conference Co-Chair, Mr. Ashen Wanniarachchi, along with the dedicated faculty and staff of the Faculty of Computing.
