Students of WP/JAYA/Kothalawala Maha Vidyalaya Visit General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University
Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) had the pleasure of hosting a group of 35 students and 2 teachers from WP/JAYA/Kothalawala Maha Vidyalaya – Kaduwela on 18th February 2025. The visitors were given an insightful tour of the university’s diverse facilities, including its prestigious Walawwa, state-of-the-art Aeronautical and Marine Laboratories and the Faculty of Medicine.
The tour began with an introduction to the historical Walawwa, which served as the foundational building of the university, highlighting its significance in the history of KDU. The guests were then led through the Aeronautical Lab, where they were introduced to cutting-edge technologies used for aviation research and training. Following that, the Marine Lab provided the students with an opportunity to learn about the university’s contributions to marine studies and innovations.
The tour culminated with a visit to the Faculty of Medicine, where the students gained an understanding of the academic programs, medical research and the facilities available for students pursuing careers in healthcare and medicine.
Throughout the day, the KDU team provided a detailed explanation and demonstration to ensure receiving of comprehensive understanding of the university’s contributions to defence, technology and education.
This visit not only strengthened the bond between KDU and WP/JAYA/Kothalawala Maha Vidyalaya but also provided a platform for the students to explore the educational opportunities available at KDU.
