KDU National Rover Crew Completes Scout Leader Training Phase 1, Awards Membership Badges to 16 Rover Scout Leaders

KDU National Rover Crew, a collective of dedicated individuals, has successfully Completed the Scout Leader Training Phase 1, a significant milestone in their scouting journey. The crew proudly awards Membership Badges to 16 Rover Scout Leaders, a testament to their commitment and dedication.
On February 22, 2025, the KDU National Rover Crew, in a powerful display of unity, completed the Scout Leader Training – Phase 1 program in collaboration with the esteemed Sri Lanka Scout Association. This joint effort has further strengthened the scouting community.
As part of the completion ceremony, 16 Scout Leaders were awarded their Scout Membership Badges, officially recognizing them as Rover Scout Masters. The course was led by Mr. Srilath de Silva, Assistant Chief Commissioner (Rover Scouting), who served as the Course Leader throughout the program.
A significant moment for KDU Rover Scouting was the participation of Vice Chancellor Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara and Deputy Vice Chancellor Major General Chinthaka Wickramasinghe, who both completed the training and were inducted into the World Scouting Brotherhood as Scout Masters. The World Scouting Brotherhood is a global network of Scout leaders committed to promoting the values and principles of Scouting.
The training program, which focused on leadership, outdoor skills, and community service, welcomed participants from KDU and other national universities and higher education institutions, including Wayamba University, Sri Palee Campus, and the Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technical Education (SLIATE).
The training team included Mrs. Priyadarshanee Jayakodi (LT) and Mr. Nimal Fernando (LT), who served as the instructional panel, with Mr. Samith Thalakiriyawa, Rover Scout Master of KDU, as the Chief Coordinator.
In celebration of BP Day 2025, Vice Chancellor Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara and Course Leader Mr. Srilath de Silva planted a mango tree at the KDU premises, symbolizing the enduring spirit of Scouting.
